Music Educator
I've been teaching K-6 General Music since 2008 and have experience teaching bands, choirs, rock groups, and musical theatre. I'm in the trenches every day! I know that there are kids we aren't connecting with in our traditional programs and so I've been a long-time advocate for including the authentic learning of popular styles in music classrooms along with creativity to enhance and modernize our existing programs.
Musician
I've played in multiple styles and genres over my career, from classical to ska, and from rock to jazz on a variety of instruments.
Author
I'm a published author with an award-winning book, and in early 2020 released a second book. I'm also a regular columnist in the Canadian Music Educator Journal. Check out my newest book, Technology for Unleashing Creativity, from Oxford University Press.
Curriculum Specialist
I hold a Master's Degree in Curriculum Studies in Music Education and have been part of a team working on a new music curriculum for my home province of Prince Edward Island.
