Music Educator

I've been teaching K-6 General Music since 2008 and in 2024 began teaching 7-9 Instrumental Music and Guitar. I have experience teaching bands, choirs, rock groups, and musical theatre. I'm in the trenches every day! I know that there are kids we aren't connecting with in our traditional programs and so I've been a long-time advocate for including the authentic learning of popular styles in music classrooms along with creativity to enhance and modernize our existing programs.

Musician

I've played in multiple styles and genres over my career, from classical to ska, and from rock to jazz on a variety of instruments.

Author

I'm a published author with an award-winning book called Rock Coach. I'm also a regular columnist in the Canadian Music Educator Journal. Check out my latest book for music teachers, Technology for Unleashing Creativity, from Oxford University Press.

Recently, I've written and illustrated my own children's book series that follows a microphone named Mikey who finds his place in the musical landscape.

Curriculum Specialist

I hold a Master's Degree in Curriculum Studies in Music Education and have been part of a team working on a new music curriculum for my home province of Prince Edward Island.
